About this project

This poster is designed to address human trafficking which is a social justice issue that’s arousing people’s concern. The hidden figures in the barcode echo with the theme: human trafficking is always there, but people do not see them happen.  The window-like barcode symbolizes a prison window, implying that there are people trapped in the ‘prison’.

Challenge

It’s not usual to address a serious social justice topic.

I need to avoid any sensitive or controversial images, i.e. handcuffs and trademark on the human body, to avoid political incorrectness.

Solutions

I chose to design simple, and use icons/symbols rather than real pictures, making the poster somehow ‘abstract’, so it can have the seriousness of the topic. I want the poster to be fun to look at, and there will be an ‘ah-ha’ moment when the audience suddenly realize there’re ‘people’ hiding in the barcode/window bars.
